f-stops: a photographic travel guide for architects

[cornell aap, fall 2023]

"Where are the pilgrimage sites for an architect?
Where have architects gone to experience spatial ecstasy?
Where were the places that have filled you with a thousand inadequate words?
'F-Stops' is a photo exhibition that seeks to provide a brief insight into where such spaces are. As you delve into these remarkable images, remember that each frame is a passage to a new land— a gateway created by the eyes of an architect. Through their lenses, we journey across continents, uncovering a mosaic of spaces, each with its own story. We hope that these photographs will ignite a spark of wanderlust within you, encouraging you to embark on your own architectural odyssey of discovery."

This exhibition curated images from students and faculty at Cornell AAP as an independent project to profile personal photography through the unique perspective of architects and thus to discover places of architectural pilgrimage from around the globe. In addition to curating a range of submissions, the locations of the photos were documented on a map, and two custom shelves displayed a selected few photographs as postcards for the audience to claim and collect. This exhibition was organized and produced in collaboration with David Ni and with the support of Marta Wisniewska and the Cornell Architecture department.
